Hi, I'm Amy. I am a board Certified Nutrition Specialist®, and a Licensed Dietician-Nutritionist. I operate a small private nutrition practice in the DC metro area, focusing on prenatal and pediatric nutrition. I am also a lead instructor at Maryland University for Integrative Health, teaching graduate level classes on Life Cycle Nutrition (from preconception through to geriatrics), and Research Literacy in Complementary Medicine.
I am often asked what my 'food philosophy' is. I am generally agnostic: I don't push veganism, or a paleo lifestyle, but prefer an individualized, intuitive approach to eating. We are all biochemically unique, thus each of us will have different dietary needs, and these will differ across the changing phases of our lives. My background in research drives me to follow evidenced-based nutrition practice, rather than promoting food fads or the latest supplements. I believe that good nutrition centers on fresh food, first and foremost, with occasional use of supplements when needed.
I work with clients as individuals, or as a family unit, in person at my office in Bethesda, Maryland, or remotely via phone consults. If you are interested in finding out how I could help you or your family, reach out! I look forward to getting to know you.
